Teen Book Review July 2010

The Darkest Powers book series written by Kelley Armstrong is one of the great book series since Twilight. Chloe Saunders is like every teenage girl who wants to fit in with her peers around her. But on the day Chloe gets her period her life is turned upside down.Seeing ghost, and being told that she was crazy was not apart of the plan. After arriving at the Lyle House(a house for special teens) her life doesn't seem to make any sense. Being in the Lyle house she meets some new friends like Liz her roommate who claims she's being haunted. When an unexpected event happens in their room it makes Chloe question what really going on inside this house. Now she has befriended Rae(a half demon)and Simon(a sorcerer),and made an enemy out of tori(a witch) and then there is Derek (a werewolf) who she not so sure about. When the opportunity occurs to find Simon and Derek's dad all are ready to go but someone rats them out and their plan to make a smooth get away are changed to a quick and very dangerous escape. When Tori and Chloe are capture the only thing on their minds is getting out and finding the boys. Chloe's aunt was the one who put them in the hospital and is trying to make it right. After she helps the girls escape she puts her life into danger trying to protect them as their running away. They follow a trail of picture clues left behind by Simon. When they meet up with the boys they make a plan to get to their dad. They are riding the bus to New York when at the bus stop Derek has to get off. Chloe who was very worried about him got off with him to make sure that he was OK he went into the woods and almost started to change in to a werewolf but it didn't happen. So Derek and Chloe start on on their journey to find his dad. During this time Chloe and Derek's relationship grows. When they find the place to meet Tori and Simon their journey is still not over. They meet their dads friend and helps them to learn how to master their powers with some mentors with the same powers as them but to their dismay some of the mentors are not who they say they are. Captured once again the must escape and find their dad. When Derek comes to save the day they must all work together to get away and be at peace for a little while . This book series is really good I highly recommend it to all who are looking for a good fantasy book.
